Welcome to MP Library: Facilities

This guide provides an introduction to the Melbourne Polytechnic library. Users are introduced to the range of resources and services available both in person and online.

Welcome to the Melbourne Polytechnic library! 

We are here to support your learning, provide access to high quality resources, and to spark your curiosity. Whether you're new to MP or just need a refresher as to what we can do for you then this guide is for you.

Locations

Libraries are located at all of our Melbourne Polytechnic campuses.

Each campus library has:

  • Quiet study spaces
  • Group study areas
  • Meeting rooms
  • Information professionals to assist you

Opening hours:

After-hours: Computer labs with printing and photocopying facilities available.
For more information: Call your campus library, email library@melbournepolytechnic.edu.au, or use the Chat on the library website.

ID Card

Head to the Library or Student Hub to get your Student ID card.

Your Student ID card is also your library and printing card. For some students and campuses, it will also be your swipe access to certain rooms. Remember to bring your student ID with you whenever you're on campus. 

From the Library website, you can log into My Library Account to:

  • Check your library record
  • Place reservations
  • Renew your loans online before the due date
  • Change your library password
Important: Your library account password is different to all other passwords you use at Melbourne Polytechnic. If you are having trouble accessing your library account contact the library for help. 

Logins

You'll need a login to access WiFi, Student Portal, Moodle, Student email, and online library resources. See the below information for guidance on logging in for the first time and how to change your password.

To get access to your online student account you need to verify your identity and set a new password.

To do this follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Password Self Service page located on the Melbourne Polytechnic website, click ‘Login for the first time’ button.

  2. Enter your unique student email address.

  3. Enter the CAPTCHA verification characters shown on the screen, then click Next.

  4. Choose ‘Email my alternate email’ or ‘Text my mobile phone’ to receive a verification code.

  5. Check your email or phone for the verification code, and enter it on the screen.

  6. Set up your new password for your student account, select finish (passwords must be 12 characters minimum length).

It’s recommended that you use a passphrase when setting up your password. Try something like “sun blue cat” instead of a hard to remember password.

Once you password is set, you can log in to access your student email, Wi-Fi, Moodle, and other student services.

If you ever forget your password you can rest it via the ‘Forgot my password’ button on the Password Self Service page.

To change your current password follow the steps below:

  1. Go to www.melbournepolytechnic.edu.au
  2. Under the Current Students tab, click Change Password
  3. Click Change my password
  4. Sign in to Microsoft with your student email (e.g. s1234567@student.mp.edu.au)
  5. Enter Current Password, New Password, and Confirm New Password
    • The new password must be different from the current one.
    • The new and confirmed passwords must match.
  6. Click Submit

Printing

Printing and Copying Services

Location:

  • Library
  • Computer labs

Requirements:

  • Melbourne Polytechnic desktop computer only - WiFi and laptop printing is not supported.

Costs:

  • Black and white (A4): 8 cents per page
  • Color (A4): 15 cents per page

Scanning:

  • Free
  • Linked to your student email
