Established in 2021, and administered by the Melbourne Polytechnic Library, the Research Repository's aim is to collect, preserve and make freely available the applied research and scholarship of Melbourne Polytechnic staff and students, and to capture and showcase the applied research outputs from the Melbourne Polytechnic community.
To be eligible to submit to the Research Repository, depositors must be current Melbourne Polytechnic staff or students at the time of submission or publication.
The Repository will accept research outputs in digital form including journal articles, book chapters, research data, e-theses, creative works (including video, audio and images), and open educational resources.
Research outputs will be freely available and accessible to both local and international communities including the Melbourne Polytechnic Alumni, Australian industry, local community, State government and international audiences.
Open access means that publications within the Research Repository are freely accessible to readers, both within and external to Melbourne Polytechnic audiences. This means that anyone can view, read, download or make a copy of your publication for their personal use.

Melbourne Polytechnic Research Repository is a green open access repository. A paper that has been accepted by a peer-reviewed journal can be shared in the repository.
Alternatively, a paper can be accepted and published in an open access journal. This is known as gold open access.
Regardless of whether a paper is green or gold, open access means it can be read without a paywall or other restrictions.
