Auslan: Library Resources

Books on the Shelf

Collingwood library has a large collection of books and videos for Auslan students. Some of the topics are:

  • Deaf culture & history
  • Auslan dictionaries
  • Working with an interpreter
  • How Auslan developed
  • The Deaf experience

Collingwood campus library also has Auslan flashcards to help students practice. These can be borrowed from the library.

Interlibrary loan

If you can't find a book or article through the Melbourne Polytechnic library you can request it through interlibrary loan.

This service is free for students, but the items must be relevant to your studies.

If your request is approved we'll borrow the item from another library and notify you when it arrives. Journal articles will be emailed to you in pdf format.

Kanopy Videos

Movies and documentaries can be streamed for free through Kanopy. A lot of the content about the deaf community is American, but you may still find it useful.

We don't have access to everything available through Kanopy, but if you find something relevant to your studies you can request access. Your request will be sent to the library and you will be notified if it is approved.
